Problems

Christ Hymns | For a Lenten study series, you are developing six portraits of Christ from New Testament books. As a way of getting started, you decide to write a character study of Christ according to Philippians 2:1-11 and another character study of Christ according to Colossians 1:15-20. Your character studies will answer questions like these: From each text, what do we know about Christ? Who is he? Where did he come from? What did/does he do? Fill in as much detail as you can.

You may not use these exact character studies in your Bible study; it depends on how they come out. Lent is late this year so you have a little extra time to prepare. Right now you're just doing homework for the study.

You are also toying with presenting to your study group a visual grid or table that has certain features of Christ-pictures on one axis and six different New Testament texts on the other axis. You will fill in information as you work on each text. Develop and fill in the grid for the two texts you're working on. What would a table of comparisons look like? What topics will you choose, and what will you say about each of them?
